Statistician’s Notes
This season, we have started off with two Individual Memberships having family members handling dogs at a pull. These family members are not IWPA members, so any handling is considered provisional.
To count for points, the dog must be owned by an IWPA member and handled by an IWPA member; not necessarily the same people.
The membership of each must be current at the time of the event. It is permissible to join at the event. If either joins after the event, that pull will be marked provisional, but future pulls will count.
Scoring changed this season. The extra ½ point now only applies to dogs placing 4th or beyond.
Last season I had coded it as such assuming it was meant to be a consolation prize for the last place dog that successfully pulled, but would get no points if he placed 4th or beyond. I had to correct my coding as it was worded to cover any placement.
The May 1998 Board concurred with my assumption it was meant to be a consolation prize and reworded the rule accordingly.
Please use the same name for your dog at every pull. Nicknames are not always obvious (e.g. Cory for Encore Encore). And using only part of a long name can be overlooked since I am searching alphabetically (e.g., Bear when he was previously called Wild Bear – W is another 200 dogs down the list).

These are all the pull I have received as of 15 November. Last membership update was 21 October.
Errors and Corrections on My End
I forgot about the ½ point rule change and the 1st seven pulls published last month were with the old scoring. It has been corrected.
Requested Changes
Cedric owned by Cory Van Winkle in region 2. Changed ownership to Paul Goon as of this season. His pulls marks provisional are now OK.

Pulls 8 & 9, Walshville, IL
Region numbers of participants were not listed on the Finish Report. It’s true that I go by what is in the database and don’t need the column on the Finish Report; but I use it as a double-check. Any discrepancy alerts me to a possible error and I proceed to resolve the difference.
Pull 9, Walshville, IL
35# class was listed in the wrong order. The lineup may be different than you were told at the pull.
Pull 12, Leavenworth, WA
Karen Hirschkorn (new) showed as provisional on the finish report, but as a member on the financial report. I assumed a recording error and assumed provisional.
Jeff Parsons was listed as provisional on the finish report, but he organized the pull and has a Family Membership current at that time.
Pull 13, Leavenworth, WA
Tim McElravy and Steve Gentry were listed as region 2 on the finish report, but provisional on the financial report. I assumed a recording error and marked them provisional.
James Charles was listed as region 2 on the finish report, but neither member nor provisional on the financial. I assumed a recording error and marked him provisional.
Paul Goon, according to a note, "passed twice then no pull". If he hooked up and the dog pulled, then he should be in the lineup. If he withdrew without ever going on-deck, then we are into the gray area we discussed last year and I don’t remember the decision of when they count. I assumed the dog was Cedric and placed him in the line-up. If he never went on-deck, let me know. We may then not include him in the lineup. (Result: typical No-Pull. He contributes points)
New Dogs
I don’t plan to list all new dogs, yet. Just those in question.

Assumptions
Cedric – Region 2, handled by Paul Goon at Luxton & Leavenworth. I assumed this is the same Cedric owned last season by Cory Van Winkle. Since Cory does not show as a member, I counted Cedric as provisional.
Let me know if this is a different dog, or Cedric is now owned by Paul.

St. Lawrence – Ed and Mary Jane have apparently moved to region 7 from 6. We only have a verbal confirmation at this time; but I went ahead and moved them before generating The Standings. They can easily be moved back.
MEMBERSHIP ISSUES
Instead of just assuming memberships, I am carrying this as a reminder that we have some issues to resolve. If you are on this as a "membership not assumed", besides not acquiring pull points, you are probably not getting the newsletter either

The following were marked as members on the organizer's report. Membership has no record and the individuals are assumed Provisional until confirmation. Their pulls will become valid if membership records their join date as on or before the pulls in question.
